PRINT 2025

PRINT returns in 2025 as a platform to showcase talent in graphic design, illustration, and print media within the framework of Design Week México. In this edition, we seek to expand the participation categories and guarantee a high-quality presentation through clear specifications for the delivery of works. PRINT 2025 will take place again in the White Box of G.56 Hub Creativo during Design Week México. A specialized jury will select the participants and award the Print Prize of $20,000 MXN to the most outstanding piece. An honorable mention will also be given to the most outstanding piece in each category.

Participation has a recovery fee of $1,000 MXN, applicable only if selected.

Note: Participants must guarantee that their works are original and do not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of third parties. They also grant Design Week México the right to display the works for promotional purposes, before and during the exhibition. Design Week México may disqualify any work that does not meet these requirements.

TEMÁTICA: DISEÑADO EN MÉXICO

This edition of PRINT 2025 is framed within the theme “Designed in Mexico”, with the aim of consolidating Mexico as a country of high-quality design recognized internationally. We are looking for works that reflect the talent, creativity and innovation of graphic design and illustration in Mexico, projecting it beyond our borders.

Se valorarán propuestas que exploren:

  • El impacto del diseño mexicano en el panorama global.
  • La reinterpretación de símbolos, materiales y procesos desde una mirada contemporánea.
  • Cómo el diseño gráfico y la ilustración generan identidad, diálogos y conexiones con el mundo.

JURY

Un jurado especializado, compuesto por reconocidos diseñadores gráficos, ilustradores, tipógrafos y expertos en la industria del diseño, será el encargado de revisar las propuestas y seleccionar las obras que formarán parte de la exposición. Los miembros del jurado serán anunciados más adelante.

¿QUIÉNES PUEDEN PARTICIPAR?

Graphic designers, illustrators, typographers and visual content creators, both national and international, interested in exhibiting their work in a curated space within Design Week Mexico 2025.

CATEGORÍAS DE PARTICIPACIÓN

  • Editorial Design: Printed publications that stand out for their design and content, such as books, magazines, fanzines, or catalogs. The submission format for this category is more flexible. Participants can submit just a spread within the specified dimensions or the complete work, tailored to the physical presentation that will be given at the exhibition.
  • Diseño Editorial: Publicaciones impresas que destaquen por su diseño y contenido, tales como libros, revistas, fanzines o catálogos. El formato de entrega para esta categoría es más flexible. Los participantes pueden presentar solo un spread dentro de las dimensiones especificadas o bien el trabajo completo, adaptado a la presentación física que se hará en la exposición.
  • Typography: Typographic designs presented in print formats, such as font specimens, typographic posters, or projects that highlight creativity in the use of type.
  • Augmented Reality and Interaction: Works that integrate interactive or augmented reality elements, combining print with digital experiences. For example, pieces that, when scanned with mobile devices, trigger additional content.
  • Motion Graphics y Animación: Proyectos de animación o gráficos en movimiento que incluyan una representación impresa complementaria, como secuencias de fotogramas, storyboards o pósters que reflejen el proceso creativo.
  • Photography: Photographic works, both individual and collages, in which photography is an essential element. We are looking for pieces that explore creativity, composition, and the use of photography in its relationship with other visual elements.

CÓMO PARTICIPAR

  1. Registration: Complete the registration form available here. The recovery fee only applies if you are selected.
  2. Proposal Submission: Attach images or renderings of the proposed work along with a brief description that includes details about the technique, materials, and concept of the piece.
  3. Selection of participants: A specialized jury will review the proposals and select those that will be part of the exhibition.
  4. Delivery of printed work: Selected participants must deliver their printed piece following the specifications mentioned, within the indicated period.

ENMARCADO Y PRESENTACIÓN

Las piezas serán presentadas utilizando formatos estándar determinados por Design Week México, con el objetivo de garantizar una presentación uniforme y facilitar el montaje.

This will also facilitate the evaluation of the pieces for the selection of honorable mentions and the Print 2025 Award. At the end of the exhibition, the printed works will be returned to the participants.

PRINTS SPECIFICATIONS

Para asegurar una presentación uniforme y de alta calidad, todas las piezas deben entregarse ya impresas bajo las siguientes especificaciones solo si eres seleccionado para la exposición en octubre 2025:

Tamaños

  • 3:2 (Vertical or horizontal):
    91x61cm (Full Canvas)
    70x50cm (Will be mounted with passe-partout)

  • 1:1 (Square):
    50x50cm (Will be assembled with passe-partout)

  • You can suggest a different size as long as it fits within the 91x61cm canvas. It will be mounted with passe-partout. Free formats may be considered at the discretion of the museum team.

Paper

Recommended options:

  • Natural fiber paper
  • Papel fotográfico
  • Textured paper

Métodos de impresión sugeridos

Risography: Allows for creative and unique results. This printing system has size limitations; please contact us for assembly details.

Risografía: Permite resultados creativos y únicos. Este sistema de impresión presenta limitaciones de tamaño, puedes consultarnos para resolver el montaje.

Collage or mixed printing: The combination of printing techniques can be accepted to generate hybrid pieces that play with different textures and materials.

Collage o impresión mixta: Se puede aceptar la combinación de técnicas de impresión para generar piezas híbridas que jueguen con texturas y materiales distintos.

File formats for recording the piece

Images: PNG, JPG, PDF (72-150 ppi, maximum 5MB)

Videos/ Motion Graphics: GIF, MP4 (maximum 10MB)

Augmented Reality: Include clear viewing instructions. These instructions must allow the piece to be evaluated by Design Week Mexico to determine if it is selected.

BENEFITS

  • Featured Exhibition: Selected pieces will be exhibited during Design Week México 2025, an internationally recognized event in the world of design, ensuring wide visibility for artists and their work.

USO DE INTELIGENCIA ARTIFICIAL EN LA CREACIÓN DE IMÁGENES

En el contexto de esta convocatoria para la exhibición, se permite el uso de Inteligencia Artificial (IA) en la creación de imágenes siempre y cuando se cumplan las siguientes reglas y directrices:

Transparency and Attribution: All entrants using AI to generate images must be transparent about this process in their work descriptions. A clear explanation of how AI was used in the creation and the artist's role in the creative process must be provided.

Human Originality and Creativity: While AI is permitted as a tool, the final work must be primarily the result of the human artist's creativity and vision. Human intervention must be demonstrated to be significant and fundamental to the creative process.

Ethics and Copyright: Participants must ensure that their use of AI respects copyright and does not infringe the rights of third parties. Models trained with copyrighted data must not be used without appropriate permission.

Quality and Technical Standards: Works generated with AI must maintain technical and quality standards that are comparable to works created without the use of AI. Aesthetic quality and visual impact must be evaluated according to the same criteria that apply to other works.

Cumplimiento con la Temática de “Diseñado en México”: Las obras generadas con IA deben contribuir de manera significativa a la exploración de la temática de “Diseñado en México”. Deben demostrar una reflexión creativa y avanzada sobre el tema, independientemente de la técnica utilizada.

AI Acknowledgment in Documentation: In the documentation and submission of the work for the call, the use of AI and any technological tools used in the creative process must be explicitly acknowledged.

Jurisdiction and Legal Compliance: Participants are responsible for complying with all local and international laws and regulations related to the use of AI and intellectual property.
