Guest Country and State

Design Week Mexico has been a showcase of national and international creativity and talent. Since 2015, each edition has featured a Mexican city or state and a guest country, with the support of state institutions and local governments, as well as embassies and international institutions. This collaboration has generated cultural exchange and enriched the design landscape in Mexico.

¹ In 2022, a special collaboration was established with two cities in the State of Mexico, which served as Guest Cities.

² Adapting to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the partnership with the guest country and state, along with the design residency, was developed in a virtual format during the years 2020 and 2021.

³ Mexico City was recognized as World Design Capital in 2018 by the World Design Organization, thanks to the initiative of Design Week Mexico. This year's event featured seven Mexican states as guests of honor, thus strengthening the capital's position as a national design icon.

⁴ In 2023, France was the guest country. Since that collaboration, the relationship with France has continued to develop new residency programs in Mexico.
